Previous Name: Amy Santiago
Myth: Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Past Life Information: In high school, Amy was voted "most appropriate." Do I even need to tell you anything else. Amy is Type-A, nerdy, and, to borrow the parlance of another myth, a Gryffindor with Ravenclaw tendencies: she's an utter badass and a proud police sergeant with ambitions to rise to the top of the ranks. During her time at Brooklyn's Ninety-ninth precinct, she developed an intense competition with fellow detective Jake Peralta. They recently got married and are very much in love.
Current Name: Carmen de la Cruz
Age: 28
Occupation: Resident, internal medicine
Personality: Carmen can't go to sleep without updating her to-do list. She's goal-oriented, ambitious and competitive, sometimes to the point of being cutthroat. She likes puzzles, math, escape rooms, and YA lit. She works hard and studies hard, and isn't very good at checking in with herself about things like rest or burnout. She believes in sharing your gifts with others, in contributing meaningfully to society, and has never done an illegal thing in her entire life.
Background: Carmen comes from a big and loving family in a buzzing, noisy home where everyone was supposed to meet around the dinner table and talk to each other. They took big noisy vacations and big orderly trips to church, and they teased and tortured and adored each other. Carmen still lives at home, because she contributes money when she can to her parents and wants to be available to her siblings, even if she frequently tells them to stop bothering her while she's studying. After her aunt and uncle died, Carmen's parents took in their niece, Carmen's cousin, Cora, and she's been nothing but great for the family. Cora bringing home a girlfriend posed some tricky questions for them all, and maybe that shifted Carmen's relationship with her faith, but it's so worth it to have and love Cora in her life.
